As a Site Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of various civil engineering elements, including site clearance, drainage and service ducts, earthworks, pavements, kerbs & footways, street lighting, and more. You will be responsible for ensuring the works are constructed in accordance with the contract drawings and specifications.
To be considered, you will come from a construction or civil engineering background and have experience as a Site or Section Engineer within a civil engineering highways environment (preferred).
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of civil engineering works, including site clearance, drainage, earthworks, pavements, kerbs, footways, and street lighting.
- Undertake setting out and as-built surveys.
- Manage quality check sheets, ITPs, and onsite inspections.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Coordinate with design teams to ensure accuracy of construction and resolve design issues.
- Assist with managing project programmes, identifying and rectifying any issues that may delay progress.
- Experience in civil engineering, with a focus on reinforced concrete (RC) structures.
- Knowledge of RC works, formwork, and working in high-profile Tier 1 environments with a focus on health, safety, and quality.
- Proficiency in using Trimble or Leica EDMs and laser levels.
- Strong technical knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices.
- Skilled in using various setting out instruments and understanding reinforcement drawings and BBS.
- Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and cloud-based systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in surveying and setting out duties on-site.
- Ability to lead by example on HSEQ matters.
- Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Valid CSCS card.
- Desirable qualifications (working towards, but not essential): IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS, SSSTS, First Aider, Fire Marshall, IPAF, Fit for Work medical, TWS.
- Ensure adherence to company health, safety, and quality standards and project engineering requirements.
- Understand and contribute to short-term lookahead programmes.
- Report any issues on site that may delay progress and assist in resolving them.
- Familiarise with design drawings and specifications to ensure accurate construction.
- Raise queries and highlight issues with the line manager.
- Assist with maintaining organised and accurate QA records.
- Help document, track, and close out NCRs and defects.
- Conduct accurate setting out duties on site using relevant surveying equipment.
- Collect and manage as-built information.
